What this site records

Reading is anonymous

You do not need an account to read anything here. Sign-in is offered in the header, for commenting and for the editor, and never required to read; no article is gated.

What we store

• Your activity — which actions you take and when.
• The content you process — the posts you open and the searches you run. Do not enter anything here you would not want stored, including passwords, secrets or personal documents.
• Your network and device — your IP address, an approximate location derived from it, your browser and operating system, language, time zone, screen and window size, and similar technical details your browser exposes.
• A device identifier — a random id kept in your browser’s storage so we can recognise return visits. It is also stored in a cookie so our servers can recognise the device. It is not tied to your name and clearing your browser storage resets it.
• Page views via Vercel Web Analytics — the hosting platform records which pages are visited, referrers, and coarse device and country data. It sets no cookies and identifies a visitor only by a hash that changes daily, so it cannot follow you across days or sites.
• Performance via Vercel Speed Insights — the hosting platform measures how quickly pages load and respond (Core Web Vitals), with the page, device type and country. It sets no cookies and does not identify you.
• Your account — while you are signed in, telemetry recorded from this browser is also linked to your account (its id and email address), so we can see what one account did across devices. Deleting your account unlinks that telemetry but does not delete it: the records stay under the device identifier, without your account or email. To have them removed as well, ask separately (below).
• Support access — to diagnose a problem, the operator can sign in to your account and see the app as you see it, without learning or changing your password. Each access is time-limited and logged, and does not sign you out anywhere else. Nothing done during it is recorded as your telemetry.
• Feedback you send — your bug reports, feature requests and replies are stored linked to your account, so the maintainer can answer them on your Requests page, and each new report is also emailed to the maintainer. Deleting your account unlinks them but does not delete them.
• Not the text of your comments. A comment records the post it was left on and its own identifier, and never its words. What you write is stored so it can be shown on the page, and it is not copied into usage records.

How long we keep it

Stored data is retained indefinitely unless you ask us to remove it.

Requesting deletion

To have your data deleted, use the feedback button in the app (the message reaches James Argarin) and mention your device identifier if you have it. We will remove the associated records.

Saving to Scribe

When you choose Save to Scribe, this app sends that post: its title, text, tags and sources to your Euxie Scribe account as a new note, together with a link back here. Nothing is sent until you press the button. Scribe is part of the same Euxie account, so no separate sign-in is involved. The note is yours in Scribe from then on: it stays there until you delete it in Scribe, and deleting your account here does not remove it. Scribe may index the note for its AI search, as it does every note you write there.

Your agreement and email choice

When you create an account, the site records which version of the terms of use you agreed to and when, and whether you asked for product news and offers by email. That box starts unticked; you can change your answer under Account at any time. It is separate from the newsletter, which has its own sign-up and confirmation. Deleting your account turns promotional email off; the record of what you agreed to is kept with your sign-in.

Bot check on sign-in

The sign-in, sign-up, password-reset and account forms run Cloudflare Turnstile, a check that the visitor is a person and not a script. It runs in a frame served by Cloudflare, which reads your network address and technical details of your browser to decide, and tells this site only whether the check passed. Cloudflare states that it uses those signals to detect and block bots, not to identify or profile anyone; its Turnstile privacy policy describes them.

Accounts are shared across these apps

Registering here creates one account that also works on the other applications run from this project. That is deliberate — it is one sign-in rather than seven — but it means the address and password you choose are not specific to this site.

Deleting your account from this site removes your comments and your profile here, and unlinks the usage records above from your account without deleting them. It does not delete the sign-in itself, because the same identity belongs to the other applications too. Today's count of comments and reports stays as well, so deleting does not reset the daily limit.
