What this is

Reporting and explainers on a few beats, followed closely rather than everything at once. Posts publish on a schedule — a few a week at most — and each one is read and edited before it goes out, so there is time to do that properly rather than at the moment of publishing.

Every post carries its beat, its date and its reading time at the top, and the date it was last revised in its metadata.

Sources are attached, and they are real

Every article lists the sources it drew on, linked, at the bottom of the page. Those links are resolved to their final destination when the post is written, because a citation that stops working is not a citation.

Images are credited

Photographs are licensed stock, credited to the photographer and linked back to them beneath the picture.

When it is wrong

It will be, sometimes. Corrections are made on the post itself rather than quietly, and the edit history is kept.

Reading needs no account; commenting does. Comments are held until they have been read, so the thread under a post stays worth reading. One account works across every app run from this project, not just this site.
